Kenya’s gay and lesbian community opens up via new website

Kenya gay and lesbian community through their umbrella body , Gay, and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya (GALK), are slowly coming out into the open and have even launched a new website – www.freedominspeech.org.

The website, that has been running for the last four months and aspires to be leading source of gay, lesbian, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) news locally and regionally, is a platform for the gay, lesbian, transgender and intersex community in Kenya to tell their own stories and champion their rights.

The Freedom in Speech website will be launched during a roundtable discussion with the theme: “Living as a gay, lesbian, transgender and intersex person in Kenya” on September 15 at Nairobi’s Safari Club hotel.

However, journalists will not have the opportunity take photos or videos of participants unless allowed by the event’s host, GALK.
