Nokia has launched a global crowd-sourcing campaign to find the next version of the Nokia Tune which was launched in 1994. The winning from the campaign will made available in a selection of the company’s 2012 product portfolio.
Nokia Tune is recognized worldwide as an audio brand asset and is estimated to be heard over 1 billion times daily.
Through the global campaign, Nokia is inviting people to work with the iconic tune with the winning tune to be placed next to the standard Nokia Tune in a selection of the company’s 2012 product portfolio.
In the competition, Nokia is challenging entrants to create their own Nokia Tune using elements of the popular original version which must run for a maximum of 30 seconds.
The competition opened on September 5 2011 and entrants have 4 weeks to enter their compositions.
After the deadline, 10 finalists will be selected on October 5 2011, from which 5 will be selected by public votes (“Likes”) and five finalists will be selected by a Nokia and AudioDraft professional jury.
The winning tune will be selected by the jury featuring some of the most respected names in the audio branding industry after which an overall winner and 5 runner-ups will be selected on October 7 2011.
The campaign is looking for a tune that is fresh, expressive, original, and creative yet distinctively a Nokia Tune, and which resonates with Nokia’s “Connecting People” tagline and is also open to collaborative efforts.
The 5 runner-ups will be awarded a prize of $ 1,000 while their work would be available for download in Ovi Store. The winner will be awarded a prize of $ 10,000 and will be featured in Nokia’s Brand Book. The winner’s work will be included in over 100 million Nokia devices and also be available as a free download in Ovi Store.
