yuMobile opens customer care centre next to Safaricom’s

Essar Telecom Kenya (ETK), which operates as yuMobile, has opened its first customer care centre (which it calls Relationship Centres) within Nairobi’s Central Business District at Gilfillan House.

The facility, the second of several new-look centres to be rolled out countrywide as part of yuMobile’s expansion plan, is located at Gilfillan House (just a few metres from Safaricom’s care centre situated at I&M building) along Kenyatta Avenue and will provide a range of services such as yuMobile data settings, postpaid activation, bill payments, selling of prepaid lines, airtime, modems and handset sales.

“As a fast growing mobile phone network, we are moving expeditiously to guarantee quick customer queries resolution by opening doors to conveniently located relationship centres countrywide. The opening of this Relationship Centre here at Gilfillan house now serves to beef up our Nairobi City Centre presence,” said Madhur Taneja, yuMobile country manager.

Customers who visit the centre will access a free calls booth, a service that allows yuMobile subscribers to make free yu to yu calls, free phone charging and also free downloads at the data experience corner.

ETK’s yuMobile network currently has about 1.5 million customers, with the latest quarterly sector statistics report released by Communication Commission of Kenya (CCK) indicating that the operator acquired an additional 46,742 new subscribers in the period under review.

ETK, Kenya’s fourth mobile cellular network, was launched in December 2008.  yuMobile’s  product and service offerings include yuCash; eneza, an electronic airtime top-up service; the  Dunda caller-ring back tone service and yuNet data packages.
