Gina Din Communications dedicates 2012 Gold SABRE award to Kenyans

After winning the Gold SABRE award for the best social media and social networking PR campaign for the Kenya Red Cross’ ‘Kenyans for Kenya’ campaign at the awards ceremony held in Brussels recently, one of Kenya’s and the region’s pioneer public relation firms, Gina Din Corporate Communications (GDCC) has dedicated the award to the Kenyan population who supported the initiative.

The campaign was a response to the Horn of Africa worst droughts, where more than 10 million people suffered from malnutrition due to inability to access food, water and other basic necessities.

The initiative was driven by a steering committee comprising of representatives from Safaricom, Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Gina Din Corporate Communication (GDCC) and media houses.

The SABRE Awards, which recognize Superior Achievement in Branding and Reputation, is the world’s largest and most sought-after public relations awards competition.

Speaking when she received the announcement, GDCC executive director Desiree Gomes said:

“This year’s Sabre Award clearly confirms our capability to deliver best practice work from Kenya. We dedicate this award to all well wishers who supported the campaign. We can’t underrate their devotedness and unending support during the campaign. The award belongs to Kenya and we are happy to receive it on behalf of Kenya.”

The award was presented during this year Superior Achievement in Branding and Reputation (SABRE) Awards, convened by The Holmes Group.
