A day to the start of the continental football derby, 2013 Orange Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Telkom Kenya – Orange has unveiled a series of promotions running from January 18 to February 10, 2013 to reward football fans who are on the Orange network.
The AFCON competition starts on Saturday, January 19 and ends on Sunday, February 10, 2013.
To participate in the first promotion, dubbed “Tuwakilishe SA” or AFCON Fan Scratch & Win, participants will send their top-up cards serial number to 2270 to enter the draw. Each SMS will be charged KShs 5.
“The month-long Tuwakilishe SA promotion will reward football fans who are on the Orange network. As an innovative and fun-loving communications brand, this is a great way for us to connect with our consumers,” said Telkom Kenya CEO Mickael Ghossein.
The second promotion, to involve mobile games, runs from January 19 and ends on Sunday February 2013. Participants in the mobile games promotion will send an SMS to “230” to get airtime on goals scored by one’s selected team. Each SMS will cost Kshs 20.
The mobile games promotion will also see fans win airtime after correctly predicting the scores before matches are played. To predict and win, fans have to send their scores to “2240” with an SMS attracting a fee of Kshs 10.
For both competitions, Ghossein said, selected winners will be awarded various prizes with the ultimate prize being a trip to the Orange AFCON finals in South Africa set for February 10. Other prizes include DStv decoders, DStv Walka 7 devices, GOtv decoders and iPhone 5 smartphones) and 50 per cent bonus airtime.
