Government calls on educational content developers to showcase at Publishers Conference




The government – through the ICT Authority and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (formerly Kenya Institute of Education – KIE) – is calling Publishers, Independent content developers and Open Educational Resource Providers to apply and participate at the forthcoming Publishers and Innovators Conference.

The conference, to run from February 29 to March 1 at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) headquarters in Nairobi, aims to engage the content developers to ensure development of quality content for the Kenyan education system and to deliberate on standards for digital content.

“We would like to invite Publishers, Independent Content Developers and Open Educational Resource Providers who have developed digital educational content either finalized and disseminated or who have some content awaiting evaluation and quality assessment before deployment,” reads the invite to the 2-day event, while asking the educational developers to apply.

The deadline for the application is running out as it closes today as applications have to be submitted before tomorrow – February 25.

One of the reasons for applying is to enable the ICT Authority have some basic information and data about the content publishers which can then be passed on to potential investors keen to work with the publisher to expand the project as part of the Authoritys’ mandate to promote ICT innovation and technology enterprenuers to scale and commercialise their products and services.

During the forum, KICD will present standards and guidelines for the development of online content in the following areas – Online course content; Online Supplementary content; Online Reference & Revision; Educational Apps & Platforms; User Generated content and Open Educational Resource Providers.
