Andualem Admassie Abate, Ethio Telecom CEO, wins EBA’s International United Europe Award


The Europe Business Assembly (EBA) has announced that Mr Andualem Admassie Abate has received the International United Europe Award which recognises individuals for personal contribution to the development of international integration.

The award ceremony took place on March 22 in London, UK. The ceremony, an important social event for business leaders globally, has been held annually since 2000. The event brought together businessmen, politicians, members of state, senior educators and entrepreneurs.

The event, dubbed ‘Achievements – 2016 Ceremony’ is a celebration of the most prestigious individuals and brings together all awardees and participants whom are considered successful in their own right. The event, as it has been known for the past 15 years, has become a regular annual spectacular for many attendees.

Award nominees are carefully selected by EBA professional research team. Winners are determined through EBA’s ratings research, which includes media, social network, internet, news and open statistic data analysis and the recommendations of authorities, social organizations, institutions, chambers of commerce, branch associations and unions, educational institutions and the experts survey.

“Mr Andualem Admassie Abate is receiving the award for implementation of integration process as well as for his strive to improve telecommunication services nationally and globally,” said EBA, adding that “Ethio Telecom ranked as the second biggest operator in Africa and 38th in the world, according to the 2015 GSMA intelligence quarterly report. Internationally awarded for its quality and service, it is gaining 2.5 million new customers every month and last year’s profits topped US $1 billion.”
