BrighterMonday through its new arm, BrighterMonday Learning, has partnered with Livity Africa and Google to offer free Digital Marketing & Strategy Training to the youth in Kenya. Kenya is the third country to offer this, after South Africa and Nigeria.
The course focuses on equipping trainees with digital marketing skills ranging from; benefits of digital Marketing over traditional marketing, Web design, Content Marketing, Social Media, among others.
Digify Bytes- the training program under Livity Africa is powered by Google, targets youth aged between 18-25 years. This programme is at no cost and accords the young people an opportunity to learn the basics of digital marketing and skills development.
Speaking at the maiden training session that took place at The Nairobi Garage, Regional Manager Brighter Monday East Africa, Emmanuel Mutuma said “without doubt the dynamic nature of technology, possessing digital skills will soon become a necessary requirement for any job seeker. Digital marketing skills will soon become a prerequisite to thrive in the business arena for everyone, not just those in the marketing profession.”
According to Ms Celestine, Program Manager Digify Kenya, anyone with such skills will always have advantage in the overly competitive job market, and such advantage is likely to make a difference to job seekers and those seeking to grow their career.
“We plan to hold more training sessions with BrighterMonday and educate more young people on digital marketing and the career opportunities it offers,” said Ms Celestine.
The partnership aimed at seeing the rise of a generation that is digitally empowered with skills that will help them thrive in a competitive market.
According to BrighterMonday, employers are also set to benefit from the partnership since they depend on internet campaigns to run brand awareness and product/ service marketing campaigns. Having digitally empowered staff will add a competitive edge to their campaigns.
Digify ZA is a three-month boot-camp launched in 2014 by Livity Africa in partnership with Google and the IAB SA. The program offers a wide-range of practical workshops on digital campaigns, social media and content creation, in addition to training on Google Search, Ad Words, YouTube and Analytics. Participants are also trained on professional skills designed to prepare them for their ideal digital job. Graduates are then placed into full time jobs or internships upon completion.
