GOtv’s non-defaulting customers to enjoy free viewing in October

Multichoice Kenya has announced that it will reward its GOtv customers who consistently renew their subscribers for the next three months – that is July, August and September – with complimentary viewing in October.
Last week, GOtv sent a message to its subscribers announcing the incentive: “GOtv is offering all customers October viewing at no extra cost for staying connected from 1 Jul to 30 Sept! Reconnect today to qualify. T&Cs apply”, stated the SMS sent on June 18.
Last month, GOtv reviewed the subscription charges for its bouquets, informing customers that GOtv Value would be charged at Kshs 650 per month while GOtv Plus Kshs 920 per month from May 15. GOtv Lite was however unaffected by the review and subscribers currently pay Kshs 555 every three months.
According to the latest industry stats from the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA),  the cumulative number of free to air TV channels that were on air on the digital terrestrial platform grew from 55 the previous quarter to 62 while the number of pay TV service providers on the Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) remained 2 (GOtv and Startimes) at the beginning of 2016. The cumulative number of digital Set Top Boxes (STBs) purchased by consumers stood at 416,984 FTA
STBs and 2,677,909 payTV STBs bringing the total to 3,094,893 on DTT platform.
