SAP veteran Ashley Boag has been picked by the enterprise software vendor to come lead its operations in East Africa from the Nairobi hub, taking over from Andrew Waititu who left the firm in May after 6 years at the helm.
Boag, who’s has been with SAP for over a decade, assumed the new role in June 2016 and has served there for 2 months now according to LinkedIn profile, where his role is described as being “accountable to ensure sustainable growth across East Africa & positioning SAP as the strategic go-to partner for innovation and growth across key industries.”

The new MD, a South African who has been with SAP all through his professional life, is further described as a “a 15-year SAP veteran with broad geographic and culturally diverse experience” who has “led the turn-around and strong growth of multiple business areas across the EMEA region at SAP.”
Prior to his new role in East Africa, Boag was the Chief Business Office for SAP Africa, a position he held for 7 months from January to June 2016.
He joined SAP in 2003 as Director of Finance and Administration for SAP EMEA before moving to the position of VP for Field Management; Chief Operating Officer; GM and VP in charge of Rapid Deployment Solution Sales for EMEA; Sales Director – Business Analytics, Line of Business and Cloud / Member of Executive Boad at SAP UK and Head of Energy and Natural Resources at SAP Africa. He is also an executive board member of SAP Africa.
