MTN Uganda has appointed two General Managers even as people wait expectantly for the country’s telecom industry market leader to name its new CEO to replace the outgoing boss Brian Gouldie whose term comes to an end at the end of this month.
The new executives are Keith Tukei, who takes over the position of GM in charge of Sales & Distribution and Dorcas Muhwezi, a long-serving MTN staff who has been promoted to the position of GM in charge of Customer Experience.
Tukei has over 20 years in the telecom industry having served various service providers in different capacities in Africa while Ms Muhwezi has been MTN Uganda for over 10 years.
Tukei previously worked at Vodacom South Africa for two years before moving to Vodacom Tanzania for another year. He has also served Airtel Africa in Sierra Leone both as Sales & Distribution Director as well as Commercial Director.
The firm said in a statement that Tukei’s appointment is in line with MTN Group’s operating which separates the MTN Mobile Financial Services function from Sales and Distribution.
Dorcas Muhwezi has worked with MTN Uganda for the last 14 years, and was the Acting GM for Customer Experience for the last 9 months before being confirmed as the substantive GM.
Previously, she worked in the Network Group in a number of senior capacities, most recently as Senior Manager for Network Quality Assurance.
Muhwezi is an electrical engineer and a certified ‘ITIL Service Manager’. She has a Masters Degree in Computer Science and Communication Engineering together with a B.Sc. Degree in Electrical Electronics.
