Telkom Kenya has expanded its phone portfolio with the launch of the new Kaduda Smart into the market.
A sequel to its predecessors, the Kaduda 1 and Kaduda “Selfie”, the Kaduda Smart features and heightening the consumer experience substantially.
The Kaduda Smart runs on Android OS, v5.1 (Lollipop) and boasts an advanced quality 5MP back camera and a 1.3 GHz quad core processor to access multiple applications such as WhatsApp and Facebook and is sure to be a hit with the ever growing tech-savvy Kenyan population.
The phone, retailing at Kshs 4,000, is demonstrable proof of Telkom Kenya’s resolve to meet consumer demands through relevant and cost effective solutions.
“The Kaduda Smart is a significant upgrade in the Kaduda series that will allow our customers to have access to several additional features not seen in the previous models. Entry level subscribers now have a variety to choose from,” said George Mlaghui, Telkom Kenya’s chief corporate communications officer.
The Dual SIM smartphone will improve the mobile Internet experience and allow customers to enjoy added services and offers from the Telco, at competitive rates.
Mobile usage in the country has increased rapidly in the past three months with a marked rise in mobile subscriptions, growing by 1.8 per cent to reach 38.3 million up from 37.7 million according to latest Communications Authority (CA) sector quarterly analysis report.
“Mobile data is currently the greatest contributor of data/Internet subscriptions in an ever increasing digital ecosystem. In this respect, Telkom Kenya is reviewing its network infrastructure development and roll-out, to improve connectivity and increase the capacity to cater to the growing mobile market demands,” says Mlaghui.
According to the Global Mobile Economy 2016 report, the number of smartphone connections globally is expected to increase by 2.6 billion by 2020, with 90 per cent of that growth coming from developing regions.
With its increased expansion of 3G coverage and the eventual upgrade to 4G, Telkom Kenya is setting the tone for broadband access and technological and service innovation in the country. This will enhance the overall consumer experience, with increased content and services being made available to the insatiable developing digital market.
