Eutelsat, MultiChoice Africa seal 9-year DStv expansion deal

Eutelsat Communications and MultiChoice Africa have signed a 9- year contract that will result in the expansion of its DSTv platform.

In a statement released at the IBC 2016 exhibition in Amsterdam, Eutelsat said the new contract for one transponder – a wireless communications, monitoring, or control device that picks up and automatically responds to an incoming signal – will further enhance digital video entertainment services in Africa.

According to Tim Jacobs, the MultiChoice Africa CEO, the additional capacity will enable MultiChoice “accelerate service and live up to our brand promise of delivering a great customer experience through providing the best possible video entertainment service in Africa marked by quality and choice.”

On his part, Eutelsat’s Chief Commercial and Development Officer Michel Azibert said the contract with MultiChoice further anchors our cluster of high-power satellites at 36° East as a point of reference for broadcasting in Sub-Saharan Africa and our longstanding relationship with MultiChoice Africa, a video company that is a hallmark for quality and creativity.”
