After his quiet departure from MTN Business Kenya where he was the MD, Tom Omariba is now head of Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK), the member’s association which promotes the growth, development and regulation of the governance and corporate secretarial profession in Kenya.
A former long-serving MTN Business Kenya executive, Omariba was among the team retained by MTN Business when the South Africa-based IT firm acquired UUNET’s Kenya operation following the WorldCom debacle.

An accountant by profession, he joined UUNET Kenya in May 2001 as the Chief Accountant from Africa Online (now part of Telkom South Africa) where he was the Financial Accountant. He held the position for almost a year till July 2002 when he was elevated to the role of Chief Financial Officer, a position he held for the next 6 years.
When former MTN Business Kenya MD Geoffrey Shimanyula left to join One Communications, Omariba took over the management of the Mombasa Road-based firm, heading it for over 7 years till his departure in mid 2015.
Before ICPSK, Omariba had a short stint at Thompson Associates as a Senior Advisor, acting as the Lead Advisor on assignments and consultancies in various industries including ICT, Finance and Corporate Governance. He began his professional career at the Nation Media Group as Accountant.
