StarTimes has successfully acquired exclusive media rights for Pakistan Super League 2017 and 2018 in sub-Saharan Africa.
The deal, which includes a non-exclusive media rights in South Africa, covers media rights across all media platforms and include all languages within the territory.
The Pakistan Super League 2017 (PSL) kicks off on February 9, 2017 and runs till March 5, 2017 with five teams playing most of matches in Dubai and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
PSL chairman Najam Sethi announced that the 2017 Pakistan Super League final will be held in Lahore, the bustling city where the Sri Lankan team bus was attacked by militants in 2009.
This year’s PSL will feature an A-list of players. These include former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, West Indian stars Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo, Australia’s Shane Watson, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and England’s Twenty20 captain Eoin Morgan. Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen will also take part, while the inclusion of Morgan is particularly noteworthy after he withdrew from England’s ongoing tour of Bangladesh over security concerns.
Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league organised by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in which five franchises participate. City/region based member clubs represent Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta. These teams represent federal areas and four provinces of Pakistan. Sports fans interested in Cricket can enjoy the smashing batting, lethal bowling and acrobatic fielding performances live in UAE. Five franchises will participate in PSL in the start. The teams which take part in the Pakistan launched Twenty20 competition titled PSL includes: Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators.
