Equitel customers now can talk and chat both offline and online longer with a 25 per cent bonus airtime for every purchase they make.
The bonus airtime, which is applicable to any amount of airtime bought, can be used to make calls, send SMSs across all networks and to also browse the internet. The promotion will run for the next two months.
Equitel users can buy the airtime through the Equitel menu, the Eazzy Banking App or Equitel agents.
Equitel’s interoperability feature allows one to send money to all mobile wallets such as Mpesa, Airtel Money and Orange money directly from one’s Equity Bank account using their Equitel line or Eazzy Banking App.
The latest quarterly statistics report from the Communication Authority (CA) shows that the value of transactions processed through Equitel stood at Kshs 219.6 billion out of Kshs 1.08 trillion that was transacted between July and September 2016, which translates to a 20 per cent market share.
According to the recent CA report, the number of Equitel subscribers as at September 2016 now stands at 2.09 million, making Equitel mobile service the fastest growing telco. This latest move is aimed at increasing customer subscriptions as they seek to increase their market share even further.
