Uganda has a population of over 35 million and needs a minimum of 340,000 units of safe blood per year. The only one Government owned organization, Uganda Blood Bank Transfusion Service (UBTS) does not have adequate facilities to collect and store blood. The situation is made worse by the influx of patients needing blood from neighboring countries. This leaves an annual deficit of over 100,000 units of safe blood.

The Rotary Blood Bank program will be one of the largest public service initiative taken up by the Rotary Clubs in Rotary District 9211. The Blood Bank is a 7,500 sq.ft. fully equipped state of the art facility that has been set up on 800sq. Meters building in Mengo hospital.

The concert will future iconic Jazz saxophonist and song writer Hugh Masekela from South Africa and reknown Ugandan Jazz Saxophonist Isaiah Katumwa.
