The Mombasa County government’s investment portal – called Mombasa Invest – is now live. The portal is part of the digital reforms initiated by the County Government’s Department of Trade, Energy and Investment meant to provide an online interactive platform for both foreign and domestic investors.
The portal will be a one–stop–shop, providing information on investment opportunities available in the County and end to end support from the County’s investment promotion agency, Mombasa Invest.
The portal is a partnership between the Mombasa County government and the World Bank Group.
Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho acknowledged the support, stating via his Facebook page thus: “The portal will be a one–stop–shop, providing information on investment opportunities available in the County and end to end support from he County’s investment promotion agency, Mombasa Invest… Our sincere appreciation goes to the World Bank Group for their generous support in this endeavour.”
The portal has various sections, among these being Explore Mombasa where one gets info related to the county’s History, Geography, Demographics and Administrative Structure. Then there’s Why Mombasa where a visitor to the website gets to learn about why the county is a Logistics Hub, issues to do with Market Access, the Skilled Workforce available, its Commercial Center as well as Infrastructure.
The segment on Where To Invest informs prospective investors about potential industries and sectors including Apparel, Construction, Industrial Fisheries, Tea Blending & Packaging and of course Tourism. Then there’s the Doing Business segment of the website from where visitors can access the Business Directory as well as the Opportunities Map for the county.
