DISCOP Abidjan to be held from May 30 in Cote d’Ivoire

Over 500 delegates are expected to attend the 3rd edition of DISCOP Abidjan set to take place from May 30  to June 1, 2017 including about 200 acquisition executives representing Francophone Africa’s fast growing broadcasters, cable, satellite, mobile payTV services and streaming services – the new kids on the buying block.Launched in 2015, DISCOP Abidjan is specifically aimed at the Francophone Africa’s, multi-screen and multi-platform marketplace. It’s driven by the tastes, expectations and usage patterns of an extremely young demographic, innovative business models and rapidly rising consumer adoption of pay and satellite TV, content business in Francophone Africa continued to show strong year-to-year growth in 2016, and rising fast as the driving trends behind this long-term growth, remain the strongest in Africa.

To be held at the Sofitel Ivoire Hotel, the 2017 edition of DISCOP Abidjan, in a continuous drive to stimulate business deals and coproduction initiatives, will include: a 3-day market bringing together buyers and sellers of film, television content, adaptation rights and packaged channels, and a side event which will comprise of an informative, deal-building, training, pitching, screening and networking program tailored for broadcasters and independent producers from francophone Africa, to help them broaden their expertise, identify partners for their projects, pitch new ideas, find distribution, and rub shoulders with key players, influencers and trendsetters.

A diverse group of delegates is expected to take part in DISCOP Abidjan in Cote d’Ivoire including international and regional distributors of film, TV and web content, adaptation rights and packaged channels; major broadcasters and digital, cable, mobile and streaming services operating in francophone Africa looking to acquire foreign content; local producers and advertisers seeking adaptation rights for unscripted and scripted shows;  independent film, television and web content producers seeking distribution and funding opportunities, with projects in development, green-lighted works in progress and finished content; and advertising and marketing agencies, consumer brands, star bloggers, talent and journalists.
