Safaricom has signed a distribution agreement with Econet Media’s Kwesé TV, Africa’s newest multi-platform payTV network, to deliver premium video content in Kenya.
Safaricom’s new partnership with Kwesé TV extends the telco’s digital services offered to its subscribers.
Kwesé’s TV content showcases some of the best in Sports and Entertainment, including exclusives like NBA basketball, Revolt TV and VICELAND, as well as live coverage of English Premier League and Brazilian football matches, as well as lifestyle and music shows.
Leveraging Safaricom’s 4G network, subscribers will be able to stream Kwesé’s programming on their connected devices through data bundles, which will be available to Safaricom customers.
Commenting on the agreement, Sylvia Mulinge, Consumer Business Director, Safaricom said: “Our aim is to enhance our customer experience and deliver solutions that meet their unique needs. Video content is the future of mobile and our partnership with Kwese will enable us to deliver some of the best international and local video content. This is a powerful partnership, which will greatly benefit our customers and have a positive impact on the local industry.”
“We are seeing increasing integration across our related industries in telecommunications and media. Through our partnership we will be able to leverage our collective strengths to give customers a world-class video service through the fastest network in Kenya. We are excited by the potential that mobile TV offers and look forward to working with Safaricom to deliver our content into the hands of even more Kenyans” said Econet Media CEO Joseph Hundah.
