Startimes Kenya to host screening session for FIFA U-20 World Cup kick-off tomorrow


StarTimes Kenya will tomorrow host the media to a screening of the kick-off of the FIFA U-20 World Cup which will feature a game between Guinea and South Korea.

The tournament runs from May 20 till June 11, 2017.

Representing Africa at the event are teams drawn from South Africa, Guinea, Senegal and Zambia. Other participating teams can be seen from the image below. 

The match schedule for the first week of the tournament indicates that all the African representatives are set to take to the pitch against their various opponents.

In April, Startimes acquired the media broadcast rights for 2018 FIFA World Cup to all 2017-2018 tournaments, securing the payTV transmission rights for exploitation in Kenya and other territories across sub-Saharan Africa.

Apart from the 2018 FIFA World Cup to be staged in Russia from mid June to mid July 2018, StarTimes also acquired payTV transmission rights for all other 2017 – 2018 FIFA tournaments including:

  • 2018 FIFA World Cup (16th June 2018 – 15th July 2018)
  • FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2018
  • FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2018

The FIFA U-20 World Cup, which was until 2005 called the FIFA World Youth Championship, is the world championship of football for male players under the age of 20. The tournament has been held every two years since Tunisia played host to the inaugural event in 1977.
