GeoPoll has released Radio and TV audience stats for Quarter 2 2017 (April – June) in Kenya. The results, compiled using the GeoPoll Media Measurement service indicate that Royal Media Services (RMS) outlets – both radio (Radio Citizen) and TV (Citizen TV) attract the highest percentage followed by Standard Media Group’s Radio Maisha (radio) and KTN (TV).
GeoPoll analyzed the top 10 radio stations at the national level in Kenya for Q2 2017, using the daily data collected through its Media Measurement Service. Both ratings and share for the top stations in Kenya are examined. The below chart shows the average ratings for the top stations in Kenya throughout the day.
Radio Citizen maintains the lead in ratings throughout the day in Q2 with its highest ratings being 5.39 between 6-8AM. Radio Maisha follows as the second in ratings achieving its highest point around the same time as Radio Citizen with an average of 4.83. Jambo radio station takes the third position in ratings throughout the day
GeoPoll also took into account the average share for Q2 2017:
The top spot is still maintained by Radio Citizen with a share of 14.9% though a slight drop from Q1 which had a share of 16.2%. This is followed by Radio Maisha and Jambo with an average share of 13.2% and 8.4% respectively. 34.4% share goes to stations outside of the top 10, most of which broadcast at a regional level.

The chart below shows the average ratings for the top 10 stations in Kenya during peak hours i.e. from 19:00 to 21:30.
Citizen has the leading spot in ratings during peak hours at the national level. Citizen maintains its highest rating being around the primetime (i.e. 8.30) as in Q1 with an average of 9.99 followed by an average of 9.57 at 7PM. There is a stiff competition between KTN and NTV for the second position in ratings.
GeoPoll also examined average share across the entire day during Q2, 2017.
According the table below, Citizen TV has the highest Share of 31.6% followed by KTN and NTV with an average share of 12.1% and 9.4% respectively.
