Last week, Multichoice Kenya announced from this month, all its subscribers who purchase a full kit DStv HD Zappa decoder – at a cost of Kshs 6,999 – will get a free Orange MiFi router pre-loaded with 10GB of internet bundles and one month viewing on the DStv Compact package in a special promo dubbed DStv Na Internet. Quite an interesting and generous proposition to many potential customers.
Remember that when bought separately, the HD Zappa decoder alone costs Kshs 2,500 while the MiFi router retails at Kshs 6,000 from Telkom outlets and distributors. This means that buy purchasing the decoder and router as part of the DStv Na Internet package, a subscriber makes a saving of Kshs 1,500 while also getting 10GB of free internet bundles valid for a month. Let me also add here that 10GB of Telkom internet bundles with a one-month validity period costs Kshs 2,000 when bought separately.

In terms of content – which is the main reason why the customers purchase the HD Zappa decoders – the new subscribers who join the DStv platform during the DStv Na Internet promo will have a lot to choose from. And we’re sure many are those who will be spoilt choice.
The customers will get access to the best of family entertainment on DStv Compact including Premier League on SuperSport 11 and La Liga on SuperSport7, exciting kids channels including Disney Cbeebies, Cartoon Network and Jim Jam. Then there are soapies for romance lovers with channels like Telemundo and Eva+, fashion and entertainment news on E! Entertainment, Spice TV and Fashion One in addition to local shows and movies on Maisha Magic East and Maisha Magic Bongo.
DStv Compact also has movies for the whole family on Discovery Family, M-Net Action, Universal Channel and M-Net Action, 24-hour music channels on Hip TV and Sound City, religious programming on Faith Broadcasting Network, Day Star, Emmanuel Tv, Kingdom Africa, Islam Channel and EWTN and local and international news on BBC World News, Al Jazeera, CCTV and Bloomberg.
All these goes to show the kind of (free) value one gets by subscribing to DStv during the DStv na Internet promo period which ends on November 31, 2017.
However, what do the existing customers who already had the DStv Zappa decoders get during this promo? Or is Multichoice Kenya only keen on attracting new subscribers to its platform while forgetting to appreciate the existing customers who’ve stayed loyal to the brand over the years? This is however not the case.
To appreciate them for their loyalty and consistency in making payments, Multichoice Kenya is currently rewarding customers who have stayed continuously connected for 3 months with internet bundles every month and 4 extra channels – Zee Bollywood, Viasat Life, Trigger and Nina.
The breakdown of the complimentary internet bundles (and the validity period) is shown in the table below:
From the table, one can deduce that DStv Premium subscribers on Airtel and Telkom network benefit the most in terms of internet bundles (2G valid for a month) while their counterparts get 1.5GB of data (also valid for a month).
On the hand, DStv Access customers on Telkom get the most at 250MB (valid for a month) of data followed by those on Safaricom at 150MB (valid for 7 days) while those on Airtel get the least in terms of free data at 50MB with a 30-day validity period.
These offers and incentives have been developed after getting the customers’ feedback, all in an effort to make sure that Multichoice delivers unmatched value to subscribers.
“We listen to our customers to understand their changing lives, the pressures they face and what matters most to them. We are committed to using these insights to put customers at the heart of all the decisions that each of us makes every day,” said Erick Odipo, the Multichoice Kenya Managing Director. “We’re reshaping our business to improve our customers’ experience, whenever and wherever they engage with us”.
That’s why at DStv, no one is left out when it comes to appreciating and rewarding customers, whether you’re new or existing customer. Or whether you’re on Safaricom or Airtel. But for new subscribers on the Telkom network, there’s DStv Na Internet. That is until November 31, so hurry and grab the offer.
