Stefano Gastaut, CEO of Vodafone Egypt, to head the group’s IoT unit from 2018




Stefano Gastaut, the current CEO of Vodafone Egypt, has been appointed as the UK telco’s global director of IoT. Gastaut takes up his new role in January 1, 2018, replacing Ivo Rook who left the role to join Sprint as the Senior VP in charge of IoT.

In early November, Vodafone launch V by Vodafone, a range of products controlled through its smartphone app in Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. The platform is available to existing customers and currently features four products, all shipped with Vodafone’s IoT V-Sim while additional devices are set to be launched in 2018.

Commenting on his appointment, Gastaut said IoT will play a significant role in many businesses globally: “I am confident that Vodafone will be the first choice partner to help customers use IoT to succeed in a digital world.”

Vodafone stated its IoT segment generates more than €700 million in revenue, manages 62 million IoT SIMs and supports services in more than 190 countries.

He joined Vodafone in 2004 and has held a variety of senior roles across markets and functions, including CEO Vodafone Partner Markets, Consumer Director, Strategy and Wholesale Director, Retail Director and Enterprise Sales Director.

From August 2016, Gastaut was the CEO of Vodafone Egypt. Prior to this, he was the CEO of Vodafone’s Partner Markets business. He also sits on the boards of Vodafone Italy and Vodafone Ireland.

Prior to joining Vodafone, Gastaut worked for five years as a management consultant at Bain & Company and for five years in FMCG at Sara Lee and Philips.
