Huawei has announced its being selected to deploy the next-generation ultra-broadband network access for Telkom South Africa which will enable it to achieve downlink rates of up to 100 Mbits per user.
The deployment, to involve four million users, will enable Telkom South Africa to provide enhanced products and services including voice, data, and IPTV.
Telkom South Africa provides integrated communications solutions to both homes and enterprises in South Africa. To maintain its competitive advantage and further grow its market share, Telkom will migrate its fixed network to a fiber-based ultra-broadband network, thereby increasing its access bandwidth, and helping to address voice and data service challenges.
Huawei’s end-to-end FTTx SingleFAN solution is ideal for live network and future service requirements. The solution involves telecommunications equipment upgrades, remote intelligent site construction, line quality evaluation, and the deployment of broadband access equipment based on fiber or copper.
“The close cooperation between our two companies highlights Huawei’s continued leadership in the access networkfield, and helps promote the development of the information industry in South Africa,” said Peng Song Huawei South Africa vice president.
Huawei is a market-leader in fixed networks with Huawei’s SingleFAN solution providing ultra-broadband access services to more than one-third of broadband users worldwide. It is through solutions such as SingleFAN that Huawei is achieving its vision to enrich life through communication.
