GOtv has announced a price reduction through which its decoders will now retail at Kshs 2,199 which represents a 29 per cent drop from the previous price. The offer also follows the recent reduction in its monthly subscription to Kshs 599 per month, down from Kshs 720.

The offer is part of GOtv’s first anniversary celebrations to ensure Kenyans enjoy access to digital entertainment.

Recently, GOtv slashed the price of its decoders and monthly subscription after the Kenya government waived duty on decoders to make them more affordable.

“With this kind of pricing, GOtv has perfectly positioned itself as a leader in the digital arena and thus, will play a pivotal role towards accelerating Kenya’s digital migration process by end of 2012.” said GOtv General Manager, Mr Felix Kyengo.

Launched late last year, GOtv uses the next generation Digital Video Broadcast standard – DVB-T2. Some of the channels that are available to GOtv subscribers include Africa Magic World, Africa Magic Swahili, Select Sport, One Gospel, E! Entertainment, Channel O, eTV Africa, and local channels such as KBC, NTV, KTN, Citizen TV to mention but a few.  GOtv is currently available to subscribers in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.

GO tv’s price reduction follows the recent announcement by DStv that from Monday October 1, 2012, the M-Net movie offering on DStv will be expanding to include 8 genre-themed movie channels.

The 8 movie channels are themed according to movie type and will include M-Net Movies Premiere, M-Net Movies Comedy, M-Net Movies Family, M-Net Movies Action Plus, M-Net Movies Drama & Romance and M-Net Movies Showcase. Rounding off the M-Net movie line-up are M-Net Movies Action (previously M-Net Action) and M-Net Movies Stars (previously M-Net Stars).

DStv subscribers can also get information on the upcoming DStv channel re-numbering initiative on the DStv website which has been made necessary due to the launch of several new channels in the recent past. The channel re-numbering initiative is focused on ensuring that all channels are grouped as relevant by genres, meaning that viewers can find the channels that they are looking for easily and quickly. The update of the channel numbers will also allow for future channel growth on DStv.
