Orange’s ‘Tujuane’ pre-paid offer now becomes permanent tariff

  • tujuaneSMS at Kshs 1 across all networks.
  • Orange-to-Orange (on-net) calls at Khs 2 per minute.
  • Calls to other networks at Kshs 3 per minute.
  • Calls from Orange Mobile and Wireless to any landline in Kenya are on-net calls, charged at Kshs 2 per minute.
  • Tujuane becomes the default tariff on prepaid.

Orange has announced its decision to retain the recently launched Tujuane promotional tariff as the permanent default prepaid tariff. Orange subscribers will continue to pay the reduced rates of KSh. 1 for SMS across all networks, KSh. 2 for on-net voice calls and KSh. 3 for off-net voice calls.

Chief Executive Officer, Mickael Ghossein based this decision on the positive response to the promotional tariff, based on its uptake during the promotional period. The new default prepaid has proven good value for subscribers and a positive step for the operator.

“The Tujuane tariff offers our subscribers value for money on voice and SMS. Our data for the period during the offer shows a 57 percent increase in volume of traffic and a 21 percent increase in revenues.” said Ghossein, “This affirms the tariff as one that meets the needs of our subscribers and the natural next step was to make this value permanently available them.”

Ghossein added that the operator believes the Tujuane tariff will give subscribers more opportunity to experience the benefits of its integrated offering that makes calling both mobile and landlines equally affordable.

“On our network, a call from an Orange mobile line to any landline in Kenya is an on-net call charged at KSh. 2 per minute. In a price sensitive market, many users hesitate to make a call from their mobile phone to a landline. We are assuring our customers they can do so at the same cost as Orange-to-Orange. This is just one example of the value that we believe our subscribers will experience better with this new, attractive permanent tariff.”

With the market demanding more and more affordable rates across networks, Orange believes its Tujuane tariff that offers cheap voice and SMS communication both on and off its network offers the lowest rates in the market.
