CIO100 East Africa Awards set for Kigali on Thursday July 11




The CIO100 East Africa banner. (Click on the image for more info)The Rwanda ICT and Youth Minister will open this year’s regional ICT awards event, CIO100 East Africa Awards on Thursday July 11 in Kigali.

The theme of CIO 100 East Africa is “Innovation for Business Value”. The event aims to recognize 100 companies in the East African region that have been using ICTs to add value to their businesses.

The Rwanda ICT minister Jean Philbert Nsengimana, will grace the gala night at the Serena Hotel, Kigali where Top 100 companies will be feted for their exemplary adoption of ICT projects and have realized return on investment and business efficiency in their processes.

According to Harry Hare, Director, CIO East Africa, the competition attracted over 300 entries across East Africa and will be held in Kigali because of its iconic and rapid growth in ICT and economic development:

“Today, Rwanda is the fastest growing economy in East Africa anchored on an exponential growth in ICT and strong infrastructure. And for this reason, together with Rwanda Development Board and the Rwanda Ministry of Youth and ICT, we decided to have this year’s Awards in Kigali. This competition is also set to feature the most successful companies in IT innovation from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. The award provides a networking platform for IT buyers and recognizes industry leaders,” said Hare.

CI0100 East Africa awards excellence in the execution of IT projects and recognizes the organizations and the people behind those projects. Apart from East Africa, CIO 100 Awards have been hosted in other countries such as the US, Canada, Sweden, Australia, Singapore, Vietnam and Hungary. According to a survey by CIO East Africa magazine as per the previous year’s award ceremonies, CIO 100 Annual Awards is among the top 10 most influential corporate events in Africa.

CIO100 Awards is an acknowledged mark of enterprise IT excellence. It’s a celebration of 100 organizations (and the people within them) that are using information technology in innovative ways to deliver business value, whether by creating competitive advantage, optimizing business processes, enabling growth or improving relationships with customers .

The event will act as a pre-launch of the Transform Africa International Conference which will be hosted by Rwanda President Paul Kagame who is the co-chair of the Broadband Commission, together with the ITU Secretary General Dr Hamadoun Toure later this year.

The conference will feature four key events: The Transform Africa Leader Summit, Youth Entrepreneurship & Innovation Extravaganza, International Exhibition, and Award Ceremony.
