Huawei has appointed Mr Spawn Wen as the Managing Director for Huawei Zambia representative offices also responsible for business operations in Zimbabwe and Malawi.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Wen was the Deputy CEO of Huawei in Angola.
He holds bachelors and Master degrees in Information and Communication from Beijing Jiaotong University.
Wen has over 6 years experience in the African ICT market with key contributions including overseeing the implementations of the Angola Unitel 2000 kilometers fiber transmission backbone project in a record time, and further supported No.1 operator in Namibia, MTC in implementation of the Namibian nationwide 3G network and 2G network in Windhoek.
Outstandingly under his tenure, Huawei Namibia cooperated with MTC to build up the first 40G DWDM backbone network and the second commercial LTE network FIRST in Africa!
Lastly in corporation with the national state broadcaster- Namibian Broadcasting Corporation oversaw the implementation of a national wide Digital TV Project for the country, which paved the way for the SADC DTT standard protocol. Today NBC remains the best DTT Case for Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) Region.
