Kenya’s GOtv subscribers have until Monday September 30 to dash to selected sales and installation centres to exchange their stub antenna – normally hanged indoors – with the outdoor aerials (called GOtenna) for free.
Initially, the free swop was scheduled to take place for a limited time – from 15 August to 15 September – but the deadline was later extended by a further 2 weeks to accord subscribers more time to exchange their old antenna.
After the expiry of the Monday deadline, customers will be charged between Kshs 1,000 to Kshs 1,500 for the GOtenna if they wish to install an external UHF antenna.
“The free exchange is being done to improve the overall GOtv viewing experience, as an external UHF GOtenna will provide the GOtv customer with an improved signal. With the new antenna, GOtv subscribers will get better reception and this means an improved and stronger signal strength; uninterrupted viewing with excellent picture and sound quality as well as no interference from mobile phones, electronics or passing cars,” reads the announcement sent to GOtv subscribers.
To qualify for the free GOtenna, customers need to pay a one-month subscription.
