Most of Kenya’s pre-paid subscribers have at one time or another used this services. It may be that you’re in an emergency, need to call or text and is without airtime or just because you’re in the middle of a conversation and credit ran out before you could conclude, and so, you decide to get an airtime advance from your service provider.
Safaricom was the pioneer with its “Okoa Jahazi” credit advance service. Since then, all the other 3 competitors have followed suit with Airtel Kenya launching “Kopa Credo”; yuMobile with “yuCredo” (which has since been phased following the acquisition of the telco by Safaricom and Airtel) and lastly, Orange’s “PEWA” credit advance scheme that was unveiled in 2012.
All these services aim to come to the rescue of subscribers in emergency situations but with no airtime values on their phones. Depending on a specific subscriber’s service provider, each of the offers has its own unique features and benefits.
