Bidco Group has taken numerous steps to reinforce its manufacturing and marketing prowess in the region. Early in 2010 Bidco decided to move from its existing ERP legacy to SAP.

The firm this week organized an event to showcase the benefits derived from implementing SAP’s technologies – and others such as Microsoft and IBM – across the organization at Bidco’s headquarters.

Michael Kaniu, head Ecosystems & Channels, SAP, East Africa, also speaking at the occasion stated, “Bidco is a good example and role model of local enterprise obtaining value by implementing SAP in 90 days. They were the first and the fastest to accomplish this momentous task. They have proved beyond doubt that African companies have come of age and that it is possible for African companies to walk shoulder to shoulder with the best of enterprises across the world and be World Class.”

Based in Kenya, Bidco is a major player in the East and Central African manufacturing industry with more than 30 brands (including Super Brands Elianto and Kimbo) available in 16 African countries. Bidco employs more than 2,100 people to ensure the effective day-to-day execution of its business operations. Bidco Oil Refineries uses SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution to drive its mission-critical business operations.

Vimal Shah, Bidco CEO, said: “Definitely we have seen Improved bottom lines – we have become a LEAN organisation, technologically savvy, customer satisfaction ratio has improved exponentially, supply chain management has become more efficient, human resources management has become much more easy to handle with zero errors.”

He stated that it is crucial for all organizations to adapt the best of applications available if they are to improve their productivity and keep up with the demands of the market.
