The winners of the Kenyan Blog Awards 2016 (#BAKEawards) were announced last night at a gala event at Radisson Blu, Nairobi.
The Kenyan Blog Awards journey started on January 8th with the launch of the awards plus the opening of the submission where Kenyan blogs could be submitted into the competition. The submission phase closed on 10th February which saw 4899 being submitted into the competition. The judges took over and trimmed the submissions to just 5 blogs per category.
The judges this year were Ahmed Salim, TerryAnne Chebet, Mikul Shah, Muthoni Maingi. The voting phase of the Kenyan Blog Awards was then opened on March 3 where the Kenyan public got to vote for their favourite Kenyan blogs. The voting phase closed on May 2.
The Kenyan Blog Awards 2016 sponsors included Safaricom Ltd (who were the title sponsors), Xpose, EatOut, Samsung, Cocacola, Kenya Bankers Association, Uber and Meta.

For the second year running, BikoZulu was voted winner in the ‘Creative Writing’ category. The blog was also voted overall ‘Kenyan Blog of the Year’ after garnering 3,402 votes.
