Kris Senanu leaving Access Kenya, to head Two Rivers complex

Kris Senanu, the Deputy CEO at AccessKenya Group (part of South Africa’s Internet Solutions), is set to leave the firm, and the IT industry at large, to take on a new role in property management.

Senanu, a Ghanaian who’s spent most of his professional life in Kenya, has already tendered his resignation and will be leaving the IT services and solutions provider in August this year to head Two Rivers, the new development which is expected to be East Africa’s largest residential and shopping complex.

He has been with Access Kenya Group for 16 years.

He was appointed Access Kenya’s deputy CEO after the firm was acquired by Dimension Data’s Internet Solutions. He has served in that position for over 2 years now, from February 2014.

Prior to his current role, Senanu had a long stint as Access Kenya’s MD from late 2008 to early 2014. He joined the firm as a Sales and Marketing manager in 2001 and held the position for 7 years till 2008.

However, even as he takes his new role at the yet-to-be-completed Two Rivers shopping complex, it’s worth noting that Senanu is entirely not new to the lifestyle industry.

In a previous interview, Senanu revealed being a co-founder and chairman of BlackRock Capital Investments, a firm with interests in several businesses, including entertainment clubs and restaurants in Nairobi.

Centum Investment’s Two Rivers complex is situated next to Nairobi’s Runda Estate and a few minutes drive from the UN Complex.

The facility was initially planned to open in 2015 but this was later pushed to March this year even though construction works are still going at the site. It’s part of the mixed-use property that is built on a 102-acre parcel of land.

China’s Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC) has invested Kshs 6.4 billion in the project as the main contractor for a 38.9% stake and puts the value of the project at Kshs 16.6 billion. Once complete, Two River will consist of high-end residential homes, a 5-star hotel and a shopping centre.

However, Two Rivers will have to contend with competition from other nearby shopping facilities like Village Market, Rosslyn Riviera and Ridgeways.
