After Samsung, Robert Ngeru now joins Allied Mobile as East Africa MD




Robert Ngeru, who left Samsung Electronics in late 2015, has updated his LinkedIn profile to indicate that he’s assumed a new role as MD in charge of East Africa operations at Allied Mobile.

Ngeru had served as Samsung Electronics’ VP and Chief Operations Officer (COO) from March 2010 till he left the Korea-based consumer electronics manufacturer in late 2015, holding the position for over 6 years.

His updated profile now states that he’s been MD of Allied Mobile from April 2016.

“Providing cellular products to the African continent and end to end solution provision and value added services to the mobile telecommunications industry. Allied provides products and services to over 4,000 customers including network operators, retailers, online merchants, dealers, distributors and insurance providers. With global reach, and local knowledge, we support the world’s leading manufacturers, retailers and operators serve their customers better with value-added distribution, supply chain solutions, white label and multi-channel retail solutions,” states Ngeru‘s profile in regards to his responsibilities in the new job.

South Africa-based Allied Mobile, which was founded in 2003, is a cellular product distributor and third-party logistics provider for the continent’s telcoms industry.

In November 2015, Allied Mobile received US $ 55 million in debt funding from Public Investment Corporation (PIC) to fund the firm’s growth efforts in South Africa as well as expansion activities into the rest of Africa. The firm currently has subsidiaries in Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Uganda, Rwanda, DRC, Angola, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana and Kenya.
