Aldo Mareuse has taken over as CEO of Telkom Kenya, replacing Vincent Lobry who was appointed to the post in September 2014.
Mareuse was until his appointment an Industry Advisor to Helios Investment Partners (which recently acquired Orange Group’s 70 per cent stake in Telkom Kenya), a position he held from April 2015 when he joined the pan-African investment firm from Accelero Capital. Prior to this, Mareuse worked in the telco industry serving a long stint as Orascom Telecom CEO from 2002 to 2011, a period of over 9 years.

The change of the CEO seems to be the first of a series of management changes expected at the telco due to the change of ownership.
According to BusinessDaily, John Barorot, Safaricom’s former CTO has also joined Telkom Kenya in the new position of Chief Technical and Information Officer (CTIO) replacing Jean Marie Garcia.
BusinessDaily further added that the position of Chief Finance Officer is also earmarked for changes though the paper was unable to confirm whether the replacement of Francois Bresson, the current office holder, has been made.
The new management structure is also meant to reduce the number of executives reporting to the CEO to four from the current nine. The affected executives will bear the title of Managing Director.
“Eddy Njoroge, who has been retained as Telkom Kenya Board chairman, had on Friday (last week) promised to unveil the new management team Monday— but sources at the telco indicated the announcement has been postponed to a later this week to allow room for international communication of the news to the affected staff,” stated BusinessDaily.
From his professional profile, it seems Vincent Lobry has gone back to Orange Group headquarters and is currently serving the Directeur Marketing Grand Public at France Telecom.
