The Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI) will hold its graduation ceremony on July 23, 2016. The graduation ceremony, which is the Institute’s first, will be held at Mashiara Park, Coopers, from 10am with Caroline Mutoko as Convocation Speaker. ADMI’s inaugural graduation will see 35 students from Kenya and Uganda graduating with Diplomas and Certificates in the fields of Film & TV Production and Photography.
Today’s media industry has been disrupted by globalisation and technological innovation, prompting employers to rethink their labour needs.
“Studies show that employers in East Africa are increasingly dissatisfied with their graduate hires. To respond to market changes and thrive in the workplace, employees need digital skills, a global outlook and real-world experience gained while still in school. And they need the right attitudes and habits,” Dr Laila Macharia, ADMI Director
ADMI responds directly to this employment challenge through its innovative work-and-learn model. To equip graduates for the rapidly evolving creative media and technology space, ADMI first exposes students to the entire content creation value chain including creative storytelling, sound design and post-production. Students can choose from a number of creative media fields like Animation, Sound, Music, Interactive Media & Game Design, or train in the marketing and business aspects of the entertainment industry. Students then undergo intensive job-readiness and digital training before participating in rigorous apprenticeships with leading media houses and production firms.

ADMI continues to grow, accommodating students from Benin, DRC, Ethiopia, Germany, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. Such growth has necessitated a move to a new state-of-the-art campus in Nairobi’s Central Business District.
