Dr Enock Kinara has been sacked by the Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) board which was appointed just a month ago on June 20.
In a letter sent to parastatal’s staff on Thursday July 21, the board stated that it has appointed Daniel Kagwe as the Acting Postmaster General and CEO with “immediate effect – 21 July 2016.”

“The Postal Corporation of Kenya Board has today, Thursday July 21, 2016, appointed Mr Daniel Kagwe as the acting Postmaster General with immediate effect. Mr Kagwe replaces Dr Kinara who has since left the Corporation,” states the letter.
The curious bit of the letter is where its states thus “Dr Kinara who has since left the Corporation” as the former CEO was at the time the letter was being issued representing PCK at an event in Cameroon, while the board sat and decided on his ouster according to media reports.
PCK’s acting CEO Daniel Kagwe, who just like the outgoing boss has had a long stint at the organisation, was previously the Head of Marketing.
The current CCK board members are Wilfred Sang (board chairman); Henry Mung’asia; Mutua Kilaka; Pauline Muthigani; Ibrahim Salat; Mary Maingi and Symon Kyuta Lonyayo.
The new team replaced the previous board – Omar Said Soba; Celestine Okuta; Susanne Manyasi; Mary Basweti and Margaret Mucheru-Karuri – whose appointment was revoked by ICT CS Joseph Mucheru. They were appointed by former ICT CS Fred Matiang’i.
However, Dr Kinara’s problems did not begin with the current board. After his contract was renewed for a second three-year term by CS Matiang’i last August against the previous board’s advice, he’s not had it easy at the helm of PCK, to the extent of heading to the Employment Court early this year and filing a petition to prevent the his dismissal.
The previous board had rejected the renewal of Kinara’s contract after evaluating his performance.
