Tigo Tanzania is main sponsor of Fiesta 2016 music festival

Tigo Tanzania has announced that it will be the main sponsors of the Fiesta 2016 festival, a party trail that draws run across the country. The festival organized annually by Prime Time Promotions, is now in its 15th year and is expected to include 15 regions where music lovers will get to be entertained by A-list music Artists from inside and outside Tanzania.

The Fiesta 2016 Festival will officially kick off in Mwanza and the other regions where the events will be held include, Kahama, Bukoba, Musoma, Shinyanga, Tabora, Singida, Dodoma, Morogoro, Tanga, Kilimanjaro, Mtwara, Iringa, Mbeya and Dar es Salaam.

Speaking during the launch, Tigo’s Chief Commercial Officer Shavkat Berdiev said: “As a Company that is committed to promote the local music industry, we are proud to be the main sponsors of the largest annual music festival in Tanzania. Our goal has always been to accord local artists with platforms that will enable them to showcase their talents, connect with their fans so as to elevate their careers and achieve greater financial gains”.

“In this year’s Fiesta festival we urge residents from all the 15 towns to come to the grounds in large numbers and enjoy different activities from our partners as well as products and services on offer from Tigo,”added Berdiev.

Joseph Kusaga, MD of Prime Time Promotions  said: “We shall continue nurturing raw talents for the new/upcoming music artists of the new generation during the Fiesta 2016 festival as we have done before in Dance la Fiesta, Fiesta Super Star, and Fiesta Football Bonanza”.

“As part of celebrating the 15 years of the Fiesta festival in the country, this year we will exercise a special campaign known as ‘kipepeo’ to identify and assist girls with special needs in the 15 regions that the festival will be held”.

“The number of artists has grown significantly in the country and as a result of this, Prime Time Promotions has visually identified artists involved in various cultural groups (TAMADUNIKA) to participate in the festival and we will effortlessly educate artists through various seminars to convert music to be part of business; creating more job opportunities for other groups,”added Kusaga.

The Fiesta festival was born in the late 1990’s with the first show taking place at Slipway in Dar es Salaam and for the last decade the festival has continued to grow to accommodate more local artistes, genres and regions.
