Speaking during the ceremony, Joseph Muriithi, MD, SEACOM Kenya said: “We are excited about partnering with CIO East Africa. We believe that CIOs, IT related professionals and C-suite executives need to come together and discuss the year that was and the year that is coming in terms of improving efficiency and delivery of services.
As SEACOM we believe we have the best flavor of Internet in Africa and this story has not been told and we think through the symposium we will have a great platform to tell this story.”
He also added, “Our expectation is that CIO will do a thorough check of the products rolled out through the year before they settle down for the best CIO Award. I hope they will be keen on not only presentations but also on products rolled out in terms of the impact on the Kenyan population and efficiency of CIO impacting the Society,”
CIO Director, Andrew Karanja lauded SEACOM’s two year continued support towards the event citing the value of interaction brought about in regard to attaining enterprise excellence through innovation.
SEACOM was established in 2007 by a group of African investors with the objective of bringing the global Internet to Africa. Two years later, SEACOM launched the first broadband submarine cable system along the East African coastline linking South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and Mozambique with major Internet connection hubs in Europe and Asia.
Today, SEACOM has evolved from being a single cable operator into Africa’s foremost network service provider and ICT enabler. The company offers resilient and scalable data services across multiple submarine cable systems and diverse terrestrial networks to mobile and fixed-line network carriers, ISPs and other ICT service providers.
Now in its sixth year, the two day event has become an acknowledged mark of excellence honoring organization’s senior information technology executives from across the enterprise and government, who have created value for their companies through the use of IT.
Winners of this year’s CIO100 will be announced and honoured at a gala ceremony. Traditionally, the CIO100 Symposium & Awards annual event is held at Enashipai Spa & Resort in Naivasha, Kenya every month of November bringing together senior end user IT related professionals, business leaders and technology providers together to showcase, network and interact on trending innovations and emerging technologies for business value in the region.
Last year the event attracted more than 300 senior IT and business executives from East Africa that saw Jack Maina, CIO of Britam emerged the CIO of the year.
