Positivo BGH, a global manufacturer and distributor of PCs and other electronic devices, currently supplying, installing and commissioning digital learning and teaching devices in public primary schools around the country as part of the government’s Digital Literacy Programme (DLP), recently announced its plans to fully venture into the Kenyan Market, during the Innovation Africa Summit 2016.
The ICT firm reaffirmed its mission to make technology accessible to transform people’s life in the region and used the forum to present its Education line, Wise. The global leader in education projects focus in providing high-quality solutions to satisfy society’s educational needs, from devices and specialized software, to training teachers and students in a new way of learning.
“At the core of what we do, is delivering Education Technology products and services for developing countries. We are proud of our ‘Made in Africa’ products, leveraging our expertise and know how in the development of products and production of computers. Since the success and importance of “Digital Literacy Programme” in Kenya, we are launching our Education line, WISE, marking the beginning of our journey here,” said Juan Ponelli, Positivo BGH President for Africa.
Positivo BGH, supported by its experience in the participation of educational projects in Latin America and Africa. It’s the main provider of technology for education in Argentina and Uruguay. In Argentina it has supplied devices in schools along the country with more than 1,000,000 in “Conectar Igualdad”, one of the biggest educational programmes in Latin America and “Plan Sarmiento” with more than 100,000 devices delivered. In Uruguay, “Plan Ceibal” where more than 300,000 devices have been delivered, it is one of the most innovate educational programmes.
Positivo BGH arrived in Africa in 2015 establishing a factory in Kigali, Rwanda to supply “One Computer One Child” educational programme. Now it is present in Kenya through the “Digital Literacy Programme”, in partnership with Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). The programme consists of supplying devices and their installation, support, and training teachers and students all over selected Kenyan public schools.
The Company is looking at setting up in Kenya and introducing its consumer line which comprises laptops, tablets and mobile phones. “I have confidence that the great innovation and creativity seen in Kenya, can be harnessed to transform the education sector and in extension, other aspects of our lives. For the third consecutive year, Positivo BGH participated in the sixth edition of Innovation Africa Summit 2016, hailed as the major annual forum for Education and ICT in Africa, which brought together 43 ministers of education, higher education and ICT from 27 African countries.
