Dr Gilbert Saggia has left Oracle and is set to joined SAP, a rival enterprise software vendor. Saggia moved to Oracle from Cisco in early 2013 and has been the firm’s Country Lead for Kenya for almost four years.
According to reports, Dr Saggia officially left Oracle mid this month and his last official function was during the second Annual Tax Sumit at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) held on October 17 – 19.

It is still not clear which role Saggia will take at SAP. This is because Andrew Waititu, SAP East Africa’s former MD, left the firm in June this year after which the firm’s regional headquarters in South Africa seconded Ashley Boag, SAP Africa’s Chief Business Officer, to oversea the East Africa operation in acting capacity. After some months however, there were reports that Boag had been confirmed to as the MD for East Africa.
With his educational background and professional experience in the IT industry, it is unimaginable for Dr Saggia to be given a role below that of regional MD. But if it’s true that Boag was confirmed to the position of East Africa MD, then it will be interesting to see how this pans out as the East Africa operation can definitely not have two leaders.
Before Oracle, Saggia was the regional manager for Cisco, a position he held for almost two year following the departure of Shehab Meshki who moved to Kenya Data Network (KDN) which was acquired and rebranded to Liquid Telecom. Before rising to the helm of Cisco’s regional office, he had been with the firm for four years serving as the Service Provider Manager in charge of Eastern Africa as well as Strategic Accounts.
Prior to Cisco, Saggia worked at Siemens for five years as the Sales Solutions Manager.
