Internet-driven courier-on-demand services company Sendy has now officially launched in Mombasa with a fleet of motorcycles, tuk tuks, pickups and trucks now available to make deliveries.
The Mombasa launch follows successful launches in Nairobi and Kisumu where they are pioneering the use of mobile phones and Internet apps to offer a new model to courier services.
Sendy is on a mission to unlock Kenya’s potential through the power of technology and partnership by connecting small businesses with drivers to make delivery simple and transparent across Africa through a mobile app and web platform.
“We’re very excited to launch Sendy in Mombasa, and to partner with Mombasans – both small businesses and drivers – to deliver an affordable, easy and simple choice to moving packages around the city. We make it easy and affordable for you to deliver your package – on demand, anytime, anywhere,” says Sendy CEO Meshack Alloys.
The mobile phone and digital technology platform has been used variously to change the way business is done in a number of sectors including shopping and taxi hailing.
“This initial launch phase include trucks, motorcycles and tuk tuks with over-night, door-to-door delivery options connecting Mombasa, Nairobi, and Kisumu,” said Mr Alloys.
He announced that under the New City Promotion aimed at helping new users discover the convenience of a Sendy Delivery, all orders are currently 90 per cent off for the month of November.
“Mombasa’s coastal location and home to Kenya’s only port has made it a rich economic hub and major trade centre,” said Mr Alloys. “Sendy is eager to partner with Mombasa, to do more than deliver packages. We’re eager to deliver prosperity, power growth and open up new possibilities for the region.”
The courier services made available by Sendy range from letters to heavy tonnage packages.
“Not only are we bringing a simple and transparent delivery platform to Mombasa to help make delivering packages inside Mombasa much easier, we’re also connect Mombasa with Nairobi and Kisumu, offering over-night, door-to-door deliveries city-2-city. Now you can send anything from a small envelope to several tons of cement door-to-door, Mombasa to Nairobi. All directly from an app on your phone,” said Don Okoth, Sendy’s Expansion Manager.
