Gilbert Saggia takes over as MD of SAP East Africa, replacing Andrew Waititu

Dr Gilbert Saggia has finally updated his professional profile to indicate his formal appointment as the MD of SAP’s East Africa office.

Dr Saggia, who left Oracle where he was the East Africa MD in mid October, now substantively takes over from Andrew Waititu. Waititu resigned from SAP in July and has since assumed a new C-level position at General Electric (GE) as the East Africa MD of GE Healthcare.

SAP is yet to make a formal announcement about Saggia’s new role and from the firm’s website, Ashley Boag is still listed as the enterprise software maker’s MD for East Africa.

Saggia’s LinkedIn profile states that he assumed his role as MD of SAP East Africa from December this year, meaning that he’s held the position for about a month.

Boag, who also doubles as SAP Africa’s Chief Business Officer, was in June this year seconded to Kenya to oversea the East Africa operation in acting capacity. After some months however, there were reports – unconfirmed – that he had been formally confirmed to as the MD for East Africa.

Before Oracle, Saggia was the regional manager for Cisco, a position he held for almost 2 years following the departure of Shehab Meshki who moved to Kenya Data Network (KDN) which was later acquired and rebranded to Liquid Telecom Kenya. Before rising to the helm of Cisco’s regional office, he had been with the firm for four years serving as the Service Provider Manager in charge of Eastern Africa as well as Strategic Accounts.

Prior to Cisco, Saggia worked at Siemens for 5 years as the Sales Solutions Manager.
