Wrapup – Innovating Justice Forum 2016

What is the Innovating Justice Forum?

The Forum is the final ‘cherry on the cake’ of a packed week of justice entrepreneurship activities. It comes at the end of a full week of HiiL’s Justice Entrepreneurship School, which prepared the innovators for their final pitch in front of an internationally diverse crowd of justice leaders, innovators, investors, entrepreneurs and politicians.

This year the HiiL Justice Accelerator ran its challenge competitions across Africa and Ukraine, including regional boostcamps in each of these countries. Within these challenge competitions, the Forum represents the finale of an exciting 6-month process. We narrowed down hundreds of applications to 36, and then to only 10, where we identified our unique and fantastic finalists.

What happened during the Innovating Justice Forum 2015?

The Forum was one full day, filled with suspense and excitement, watching the entrepreneurs pitch their justice innovations to a tough yet talented jury. The forum facilitated an exchange of knowledge, skills and experiences amongst a hugely diverse crowd, who watched tensely to await the final verdict of the awards decided by the jury. Comedic yet exhilarating keynote speeches were given by Tharcisse Karugarama (Former Minister of Justice of Rwanda) and Akingbolahan Adeniran (Office of Nigerian Vice-President) who provided insight into justice solutions from an African perspective.

During the day, the Justice Accelerator Team hosted a series of skills sessions, networking opportunities, keynote speeches by inspiring justice leaders and various activities for the enthusiastic crowd. The host Connor Sattely made sure everyone was fired up and ready to participate!
