Digital Health & Wellness Summit set for Barcelona in February

The European Connected Health Alliance (ECHAlliance) has announced that the Digital Health & Wellness Summit 2017 (DHWS17) will be back in Barcelona (Spain) partnering again with 4 Years from Now (4YFN), the business platform of Mobile World Capital Barcelona for technology startups. DHWS17 is the vertical health programme at 4YFN, an event to address the main challenges of the healthcare sector that will take place 27 February 2017 at Fira Montjuïc, Barcelona.

Brian O’Connor, chair of ECHAlliance, said: “We are excited to be partnering again with 4YFN, the referent event for the community of digital entrepreneurs and startups. It will be a great opportunity to enhance more projects and collaboration to better meet the health and well-being needs of people around the world.”

ECHAlliance has launched a call for proposals in order to select the best digital health ideas, projects and initiatives to participate at DHWS17. The call has two main schemes: challenge needs, that look for propositions about real needs from health professionals, patients and citizens companies, and challenges solutions, that seek for innovative concepts and solutions to meet these needs. The call is open to all clinicians, patients, institutions, NGOs, foundations, companies, startups & entrepreneurs, researchers, designers, gamers and everyone with out of the box ideas with high potential for scalability and positive impact in healthcare.

The challenge will be focused on four main themes: one of the main burdens of the healthcare system, Diabetes and Chronic Diseases Management, and some of the most innovative trends that will shape the future of healthcare: Virtual Reality & Games for engagement and behavioural change, New Insurance models (the ‘Digital Insurer’), and Corporate Wellness.

Selected projects will be presented during DHWS17 at 4YFN to a mixed audience of digital health experts, clinicians, policy-makers, payers and investors. More than 12,500 visitors were at the last edition of the event.

In addition, successful ideas will also benefit from a year-long tailored mentorship, a communication plan, powered by 4YFN and the ECHAlliance, and access to ECHAlliance international network, with 500+ member organizations and 16,000+ experts, that facilitates sharing expertise and finding investor support.

Deadline to submit projects to the ECHAlliance challenge is January 13, 2017 and the finalist ideas will be announced on 17 January.
