Over two months after the US held it Presidential Elections in November, the President-elect Donald Trump is expected to take over the reigns of power from the outgoing President Barack Obama today evening.

And this being a globally important event, Startimes subscribers will also have an opportunity to follow the #DonaldTrumpInaguration as the 45th President of the United States this Friday January 20 by tuning to FOX News Channel 302 on the DTT platform or channel 261 on DTH, Al Jazeera on channel 301 on DTT or 257 for those on DTH as well as BBC World News on channel 300 on DTT or 256 on the DTH platform.

According to The Telegraph, the inauguration will take place at 8pm local time (5pm GMT) today, with the main ceremony being held at the White House, followed by a number of Inaugural Balls across Washington, DC. The official swearing-in ceremony occurs on the steps in front of the Capitol.

“Until 1933, the new president was inaugurated on March 4, four months after election day. This was then shortened to around two months with the ratification of the 20th Amendment… The time between US election and inauguration allows for the incumbent, or ‘lame duck’, president to tie up any loose ends, and for the incoming president to prepare for his tenure by working on policy and appointing his cabinet”, state The Telegraph, however adding that “the main reason for the delay is to allow for the election to continue” as on November 8, members of the public cast their votes – but did not directly for who they want to be president.
