
Tourism stakeholders are converging at Strathmore School of Tourism and Hospitality for a two-day Digital Tourism Seminar facilitated by E-Tourism Frontiers, a global company focusing on digital tourism training in emerging markets with a focus on Africa. The seminar is hosting delegates drawn from both industry professionals and students in hospitality and tourism.
Strathmore School of Tourism and Hospitality has also made an announcement that a Digital Tourism Course targeting tourism industry players is scheduled to commence in April 2017. The course is being introduced following the growing importance of digital and online tourism and has already been incorporated in the two degree programs the school offers BSc Hospitality Management and BSc Tourism Management.
Damian Cook, the CEO of E-Tourism Frontiers, emphasized the importance of online tourism. “With over 60% of travel now being researched, booked and bought online, and social media playing a critical role in travel marketing, ensuring that the African tourism sector is partaking and benefiting from this fast growing space is essential for the sector’s growth and survival.”
Mr Cook went on to say: “The Digital Tourism Seminar will show case the latest tools and trends on how to best leverage social media for travel and tourism businesses factoring in the vast growth of smartphone usage in the travel space. We will also focus on offering practical training and solutions to grow and improve business.” Mr. Cook explains.
The two-day Digital Tourism Seminar provides Certified Training from a Professional International trainer and it includes sessions on TripAdvisor on how best to use this all important platform in marketing and managing a travel business. Sessions also include managing social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, website development, e-commerce, online reservations and bookings, multimedia, user generated content, mobile marketing and much more.
E-Tourism Frontiers is an initiative to develop a sustainable and equitable online tourism sector in emerging markets in Africa, the Middle East and Asia, via travel technology conferences and training seminars.
