
Equity Bank is now offering its customers various models of the ‘GTel’ smartphones beginning this Valentines. As part of the promo, Equity is selling the GTel smartphones at select branches where customers can buy the devices that come with Ksh250 airtime for their Equitel lines.
Additionally customers will have the option of paying for the smartphones in installments of up to 12 months.

GTel is a Zimbabwe-based device vendor and one of the few smartphone designer and manufacturers.

The latest offer comes on the back of a 25 per cent bonus airtime promotion for every purchase airtime purchase. The bonus airtime is applicable to any amount of airtime bought can be used to make calls, send SMSs across all networks and to also browse the internet. The promotion will run for the next two months.
Equitel is increasingly growing its share of voice, data and mobile transaction usage.
The latest quarterly statistics report from the Communication Authority (CA) shows that the value of transactions processed through Equitel stood at Kshs 219.6 billion out of Kshs 1.08 trillion that was transacted between July and September 2016, which translates to a 20 per cent market share.
According to the recent CA report, the number of Equitel subscribers as at September 2016 now stands at 2.09 million, making Equitel mobile service the fastest growing telco. This latest move is aimed at increasing customer subscriptions as they seek to increase their market share even further.
