Fero Mobile partners with Jumia to launch new phones in Kenya

Fero has unveiled its new smartphone, Fero Iris, in the Kenyan market. Fero Iris comes with a unique security feature that allows users to unlock their screens using their eyes. The device also features a 5-inch HD display with a1GB RAM, powered by a 2500mAh battery.

Speaking during the launch of the Fero Iris device in Nairobi, Fero Mobile Head of International Marketing Vivek Chaudhary said the brand is focused on introducing innovative solutions that are designed to enhancethe customer experience.

“This new technology provides unrivaled convenience to users and allows them to interact with their devices even in the extreme conditions,” said Chaudhary.

Mr Chaudhary noted that with these innovations, Fero Mobile is aiming to increasing productivity among users and give them a new experience.

“FeroMobile’s development strategy is driven by a blend of technological innovation, consumer upgrade cycles and our business and marketing needs,” he explained, adding: “The smartphone market is saturated with new advanced features every day. This demands for smart and fresh ideas for predecessors of each phone.”

According to International Data Corporation (IDC), global smartphone sales went up by 2.3 per cent to 1.47 billion units in 2016, leading device vendors to tap into advanced technologies and innovations for emerging smartphones.

During the launch, Fero Mobile announced a partnership deal with online retailer Jumia to make Fero Iris and other Fero devices available across the country. The deal will enable consumers to get the devices at competitive prices. This Fero Iris is available on Jumia  for pre-orders and will retail at Kshs 9,000.

He noted that the Kenyan smartphone market has continued to experience substantial growth as a result of combination of a strong economic climate and increasing internet and mobile connectivity.

In her remarks, Jumia’s Head of Mobile Phones – Sanaz Abaie said the Kenyan mobile phone market offers a favorable competitive landscape, giving consumers a wide range of choice and an opportunity for brands to innovate even more.

In addition to its Iris technology, the  new smartphone is 4G LTE-enabled and comes equipped with a high resolution 5.0 inch, 1280 x 720 HD IPS+ display. It also has a 2500 mAh Battery, Quad core processor and an 8MP back camera.

Fero Mobile also launched a new range of devices in the feature phone and smartphone categories: 

ROYALE A1 – Comes with 8 Megapixel back camera, 5 Mega pixel front camera with Flash, Xensation glass with enhanced display protection, Quad-core processor, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal Memory. It costs Kshs 10,000.

Feature phone – Selfie series – Which are enhanced with extended battery life that enables users to take pictures for long periods.

Smartphones – L100 is a 4G-enabled device. Its 5.0 inch HD IPS screen comes with Dragontrail glass protection and a 2350 mAh battery. The phone also sports a 5MP camera in front and at the back. Fero PACE comes with fingerprint sensor and sports a 5.5 inch HD IPS display, 2,800 mAh battery and 8MP back and 5MP front camera.

Fero will also be launching the Fero Pad 8 retailing at Kshs 12,000 in partnership with Jumia.
